Riverbend Industries (RBI) is a private family-owned portfolio holding company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. The portfolio is primarily comprised of several, independently operated, previously family-run businesses in the light manufacturing and distribution sectors. The portfolio is a long-term holder of its investments/assets and plans to grow both organically and through acquisitions into the foreseeable future.

Summary

The Engineer works with other engineers and manufacturing to provide engineering design and documents for manufacturing and certification purposes. Meets with sales, customers, purchasing, and vendors as required to develop and participate in strategic project planning and execution.

  

 Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead by example with a Safety First mindset in every task
  • Provide design and drafting for mechanical design layout for new and revised products utilizing a variety of design software packages
  • Create detailed drawings from sketches, outside design layouts
  • Create drawings for machinists to produce custom items 
  • Create component specifications as required
  • Respond to daily requests for drawings/diagrams, documents, presentations, and reports
  • Conduct mechanical inspections as needed using applicable tools, machines, visual, etc.
  • Able to participate in meetings with customers and vendors, as needed
  • Must perform all work in accordance with all safety procedures
  • Regular attendance is essential
  • Create certification documentation and interfacing with outside PE firms and various certification entities.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required

  

Education, Experience & Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering 
  • 3+ years’ experience as an Engineer doing design and CAD
  • 2+ Years experience with Codeware Compress
  • 2+ years’ experience with Solidworks
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems
  • Knowledge of project scheduling and the dynamics of custom product manufacturing on      customer projects.
  • Experience with ASME codes and specifications
  • Experience with welding requirements and CAD symbols
  • Experience with requirements of QC systems (ASME, API, or ISO)

Preferred

  • EIT registration

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily an office job consisting of desk work and possible light lifting. Willing and able to raise and transport articles weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Walks onto shop floor for inspection, review and consultations as required. Proper PPE as needed for the situation.
  • Willing to work alone a high percentage of the time
  • Willing to wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company policy.
  • Willing to work in a manufacturing environment
